Provincial Regional Championships - PRC's to be held
@ Wolfson Fields UBC
- July 2nd, 3rd & 4th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
(try outs are usually in early June after the high school provincials)
- Cost $150.00 per player to play on these teams and includes rugby kit.
Vancouver West U16 - boys - born in 1994 & 1995
Vancouver East U16 - boys - born in 1994 & 1995
Vancouver North U16 - boys - born in 1994 & 1995
Vancouver U18 - boys - born in 1992 & 1993
Vancouver U19 - girls - born in 1991 & 1992

Regions are where you live or go to school or play Club Rugby:
Vancouver West is Vancouver Proper
Vancouver East is Burnaby, New Westminster and Richmond
Vancouver North is the entire North Shore
Vancouver is all of the above

At the PRC's the Provincial Coaches for U16, U18 & U19 will be selecting and inviting players to attend their Selection Camps. From here you will go to the Nationals.

BC Summer Games will be held:
- in Langley
- July 22nd to July 25th - Thursday to Sunday
(Provincial Coaches will be selecting players to go to Nationals @ this event for U14 boys)
- Cost $250.00 the BC Summer Games includes Travel, Accommodation, Food Opening and Closing Ceremonies and rugby kit etc.
U14 - Boys 15's- born in 1996 & 1997
U17 - Girls 7's - born in 1993 & 1994

Fraser River-Delta (Zone 4)
Zone Colour - Orange
The City of Burnaby, the District of Delta, the City of New Westminster, and the City of Richmond.

Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5)
Zone Colour - Dark Green
The Regional Districts of Squamish-Lillooet (excluding Electoral Areas A and B), Sunshine Coast, Electoral Area A of the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the Village of Lions Bay, the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the City of Vancouver, and the District of West Vancouver.

Rugby Canada Nationals will be held:
- in Calgary, Alberta
- Wednesday, August 11th to Tuesday, August 17th
(in the past it has cost roughly $1500.00 per player to attend the Nationals (based on cost share across the country) - includes flight, accommodation, food, and rugby kit)
U14 boys - 2 teams
U16 boys - 2 teams
U18 boys - 1 team
U19 girls - 1 team

ALL Players, Coaches, Managers and Trainers must be REGISTERED with the BCRU/Rugby Canada for the 2009-2010 season (Sept. 2009 to Aug. 31st 2010)

Vancouver B.C. - The Vancouver Rugby Union Representative Programs have provided Male and Female athletes with a high level of competition and the opportunity to further develop their skills beyond the club level.

The VRU aims to provide a showcase for skills and talents of Male and Female players for selection to ongoing Provincial and National Team programs. Players are encouraged to participate in rep programs as it is a pathway to Provincial and National team programs.

All male and female players are encouraged to participate in the upcoming VRU player selection trials for the upcoming: Provincial Regional Championships, which will take place at UBC's Wolfson Fields - Fri, July 7th to Sun, July 9th 2006 and BC Summer Games July 27th to July 30th in Kamloops.

Our first schedule of games for the up coming Hellrud-Brown Cup (SR Women) Dunbar Cup (U21-Men) against FVRU, VIRU will take place on May 27th, 2006.

Team Training sessions will start on: Tuesday May 16th, 2006 at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. We encourage all players to get involved in what will be a fun and competitive season of representative Rugby.

Vancouver B.C. – For over a century the Vancouver Rugby Union has represented its member rugby clubs and created a strong legacy of competitive representative rugby programs.

Vancouver Rugby Union Representative Rugby Programs aim to:
• Provide male and female athletes with an opportunity to develop their game beyond the club level;
• Provide male and female athletes with a high level of competition; and
• Provide a showcase for the skills and talents of male and female VRU players with regard to provincial and national team development/selections.

With these goals in mind and competitions taking place May - July 2006 the VRU is taking applications for coaches and managers for the following programs:
• Age Grade (Japan Cup and BC Summer Games – male and female U14, U16, U17, U18, U19)
• Senior Women’s (Hellerud-Brown Cup)
• Men’s U21 Rugby (Dunbar Cup)
• Senior Men’s (RCSL & McKechnie Cup)

Qualifications for Representative Programs Coaches, Managers

- Coaches representing Age Grade Rugby: must have Level I coaching certification (technical, practical, and theory), excellent communication and organization skills, demonstrated coaching experience, and a commitment to representative play.

- Coaches representing Sr. Rugby Programs (Sr. Women, U21 Men, Sr. Men): must have minimum Level II coaching certification (technical, practical, theory), excellent communication and organizational skills, strong leadership, and demonstrated coaching experience. A relationship with the local rugby community and a progressive philosophy towards playing the modern game is also an asset.

- Team Managers: must have strong organization and communication skills, financial accountability, ability to use information technology, and leadership and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with Provincial Union, Sub Union, Clubs, and Coaches as well the players and volunteers.
