2006 LVISSAA RUGBY PLAYOFF INFORMATION AND STANDINGS posted May 11 2006 by Ian Hyde-Lay LVI Standings and Results up to and including May 11th in Word format PLAYOFF INFORMATION COLONEL HODGKINS (AA) DIVISION By virtue of the fact only four teams played in the Division, there will be no automatic qualifier to the BC AA Tournament for the top placed league team. Only the Colonel Hodgkins Cup winner will represent LVISSAA at the BC AA Tournament May 27, 31-June 3. AA Semifinal – Monday, May 15, 2006 at SMUS 3.30pm #2 GNS vs #3 Reynolds 4.40pm #1 Esquimalt vs #4 Parkland AA Final - Thursday, May 18, 2006 at SMUS 2.45pm Semifinal winners HOWARD RUSSELL (AAA) DIVISION By virtue of being the highest placed AAA league finisher, Oak Bay receives an automatic berth to the BC AAA Tournament (May 27, June 1-3 at UBC) regardless of playoff performance. If Oak Bay also wins the Cup Final, the playoff runner-up will also qualify for the BC AAA Tournament. The highest remaining league finisher that does not otherwise qualify for the BC Tournament will play North Island AAA #3 in a half berth challenge match on Tuesday, May 23. Match venue and KO time tba. The winner of this match will claim the fifth and final Island berth to the BC AAA Tournament AAA Semifinals - Monday, May 15, 2006 at Oak Bay HS 3.30pm #1 Oak Bay vs #4 Stelly’s 4.40pm #2 SMUS vs #3 Mt. Douglas AAA Finals - Thursday, May 18, 2006 at SMUS 4.15pm Semifinal Winners PLEASE NOTE THAT So as not to exceed the U19 Law which stipulates no more than 70 minutes of play per day, playoff games up to and including the BC Tournament will be 2 x 30 minutes, to allow for 2 x 5 minutes extra time (sudden death - first score will be conclusive) in the case of drawn games. If this extra time still does not break the tie, then the following tie break system will be used a) most tries in the match b) most converted tries in the match c) most drop goals in the match d) most penalty goals in the match e) the first points scored in the game (introduced in 1996) f) if the game is 0-0, result determined by coin toss (introduced in 1996) Note again that this will be the tiebreak formula in the 2005 BC AA and AAA Championships. However, if teams that have already qualified for the BCs meet in the Howard Russell Cup Final, a full 70 minute games will be played. Drawn games will result in the Cup being shared. ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL Sincerely, Ian Hyde-Lay LVISSAA Rugby Commissioner
