Island U16 Schedule - Season Starts Jan 25 - Ends April 26

from Mark Pratt
posted Jan 15 2009

[ed. there seems to be a new energy amongst the organizers at this age level this year, hopefully it will be a successful season. I think we all realize we need a solid competition at this age level for the future of rugby. At BC Rugby News we'll try to do our part to give the league some exposure.]

"There are a few people who are new to their clubs as managers and coaches so apologies to the choir but PLEASE keep in mind that we are all committed to “making it work” for the players. Our focus should be on getting a game on for the players so if a club is struggling with numbers or is in a “rebuilding” year for skills, club officials have agreed that we will do what it takes to make it work.

Also PLEASE keep in mind that “Blowouts” have killed off young teams more than once so if a game is out of balance look for ways to manage the situation to provide development opportunities for both teams. High scores do not equal bragging rights at this age !!"
