Fraser Valley Triumphs Over Canada in U17 Action

from Adam Roberts
posted Feb 1 2010

Another wicked rugby day at South Surrey Athletic Park! Sunday afternoon saw the Fraser Valley U17’s host the Canadian Development U17 team. The Valley had a strong contingent of Canada U17 players that were on the recent tour to Santa Barbara. The game was played in great spirits with players on both sides vying for spots on the tour to the Wellington Festival (formerly Millfield) in April.

The Canadian Squad opened the scoring with a well earned try in the corner. The Valley came right back with a converted try of their own for the lead. The game was filled with momentum shifts as both teams were working through kinks.

With the Valley down 13-12 with about 12 minutes to go an outstanding individual effort by Justin Douglas put the Valley up 19-13. Not to be discouraged the Canadian side stormed to score a late try but were unable to convert.
