Mark was interviewed by CHEK News on their Game On! segment. Congratulations to Mark, a nice guy and great ambassador for rugby. Justin Fitzpatrick to Houston
The MLR (Major League Rugby) is the next kick at the can in terms of creating a professional league in the USA. Houston is one of the teams and they've got a good start hiring the Seattle Saracens coach Justin Fitzpatrick. We may see them in BC sooner rather than later as the league starts in spring 2018 but they may tour BC beforehand in preparation. Canada U19 Defeat England Independent Schools
Canada’s men's U19 team defeated Independent Schools Lambs RFC 30-8 Sunday afternoon at Burnaby Lake RFC.
Kicking off their Canada tour, Independent Schools Lambs RFC got off to a fast start against Canada’s U19’s.
The Lambs played a high tempo game in the early going, attacking from anywhere on the field.
Initially, Canada was not playing at the pace of the match, conceding an early try to the visitors.
However, Canada did manage to weather the storm and showed glimpses in the final 20 minutes of the opening half that they had the ability to put the Lambs under pressure.
“In the second half, we played a lot more directed rugby and kept the ball better,” said head coach Dean Murten. “The forwards generated some fast ball and the backs used it extremely well, resulting in some good team tries.”
Murten was also pleased with how his team responded to the message that was sent in training.
“The two major things we asked the players to do was play with speed and impose themselves physically,” said Murten. “I am happy to say we did that for a good 60 minutes.”
