The Leprechaun Tiger Rugby Football Club is Celebrating 100 Years of Rugby

from Peter Harcourt
posted Feb 2 2010

There is something special happening in Edmonton in April 16-18, 2010. The Leprechaun Tiger Rugby Football Club is celebrating 100 years of Rugby. Many of the founders such as Tigers - Norm Suvan, Bob Gibbons, Jim McLaughlin, Larry Rousel and Leprechauns – Cliff Chapman, Chris Braiden, Dave Graham and many others will be in attendance.

There is a full weekend planned starting with a reception at Pat Devaney’s Rose and Crown pub on Friday evening and a monster banquet at the classy Royal Glenora Club on Saturday evening. [Boy we have sure come a long way from the Corunna].

But we need your help; could you mention this event in your newsletter & on your web site as there are many former players with whom we have lost touch. If any ask you please have them email one of the five people listed below and we will forward more details.

The clubs have a proud history including 11 men’s provincial championships, 6 provincial women’s championships, a former Canadian President Ivor Thomas, Several Provincial Presidents including Norm Suvan, Don Whidden and Peter Harcourt, Many ERU Presidents and over 25 Canadian men’s and women’s caps.

It will be a great weekend, the beer will flow and it is only too bad that the little Leprechaun Jimmy Gordon left us last year. There will be a special commerative jersey celebrating 100 years of rugby on sale so email for more information.
