Something for Sunday Viewing: Ireland v Wales and South Africa v Argentina
posted Aug 9 2015 [ed. update, apparently Dropbox suspended the public links due to excessive traffic, so it was good up till Sunday evening at 10pm. If you were early you were in luck. Next week I may setup a members area for access to limit numbers.]
Here's something for our readers to enjoy this Sunday. If you haven't had a chance to watch these games, we'll leave them up for a couple of days, then we have to remove them to make space.
Argentina v South Africa comes in two halves. Argentina showing what a strong scrum platform and tenacious work at the breakdown can do. Very impressive by the Argies and they put the nation of South Africa into a bit of a shock. The Springbok captain Jean De Villiers said that the result was a “low point” in his career.
The Ireland v Wales match was difficult for North American viewers to access. It was part of both countries buildup to the World Cup as they had teams that included possibles and probables. A lot of hand wringing going on in Wales after the result, especially with fellow Pool A teams Australia and Fiji getting strong winning results lately.
Commonwealth Games Video Highlights: Team Awarded Bowl & Moonlight Try
posted July 28 2014
We'll add to this as we have time during the week. So far we have the Bowl presentation and the meet and greet with the crowd afterwards, plus one of the tries.
We'll try to add more tries from day 2, as time permits, first up is the 2nd try against Uganda, scored by John Moonlight but set up by a great running line from Sean White off a pass from Nathan Hirayama.
These videos may not work off all computers and browsers. The top video is streamed off our Facebook account. The second video is streamed off our own server and is in .webm format which is supported by Firefox. So if you can't see it, try using Firefox on a PC.
We have the full matches, Canada v Uganda and Canada v Cook Islands, plus the Bronze and Gold medal matches. If you make a $20 donation to BCRN we'll ship you off a BCRN 2Gb Flash Drive with the games on it. You just plug it into the USB port on your computer to read the video files.
2nd try in Uganda game, Hirayama to White to Moonlight.
Highlights from the Australian Barbarians vs Canada Match
[ed. comments below] posted Aug 27 2011
About 7 minutes of highlights from the match, there was no audio so I've added a bit of voice over to give context.
DTH I would say was man of the match, scoring one try and setting the other one up. Mackenzie made the most of his chance with a display of soccer skills. Some poor tackling and lazy positional play by a few players lead to a couple of easy tries for the Barbarians.
Monro is looking confident at #10, tackled well and made some key passes. Kleeberger looks like he's worked his way into the starting lineup with a good work rate. O'Toole has been quiet the last few games. Second row positions maybe still be up for grabs as the scrum was pushed back at key times, also some dreadful defending on one try. Front row seems fixed with Buydens, Riordan and Marshall.
On to the World Cup next, big game against Tonga on Wednesday September 14th, a must win for Canada. The game will be shown on TSN and it will be televised at 10pm on Tuesday the 13th for west coast viewers.

Where else in Canada except Victoria would you find the local TV station covering rugby and interviewing the 7s captain?
